Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 First Trailer Drops, Showing New Footage

Netflix has released the first trailer for Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 ahead of its December 25th debut. The second drop of the series’ final season premieres on Christmas Day with three new episodes promising that “It’s not over — not by a long shot.”
In a new two-minute trailer, we’re shown brand new footage of the series. It’s assumed that everything shown will be contained to the next three episodes, leaving the grand finale a remaining mystery. Throughout the trailer, we see Will, played by Noah Schnapp, talking to his mother Joyce, played by Winona Ryder. We also catch glimpses of Dustin and Steve (Gaten Matarazzo and Joe Keery) together in the Upside Down.

In conjunction with the trailer, Netflix published an interview with series creators, the Duffer Brothers. Reflecting on the end of Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1, the Duffer Brothers discuss the connection Will has to Vecna and the Upside Down.
MINOR SPOILERS FOR VOLUME 1 BELOW
“In Season 2, we started to delve into it, but one of the earliest ideas in the new season is, ‘What if Will were able to harness this connection and use it against our villains?’ We also felt it very natural to re-center the story on Will. He was the kid who was taken in Season 1, so it felt right for the story to come full circle. If anyone [was] going to be the key to ending Vecna, it needed to be Will.”
The first four episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 are available to stream on Netflix. The following three episodes will be available to stream on Christmas Day at 8 PM ET/ 5 PM PT. The series finale is set to drop on New Year’s Eve.
