How to Make iPhone Display Flash for Alerts
With the release of iOS 26.2, Apple has introduced the ability to set your iPhone’s display to momentarily flash when a notification hits, giving a strong visual cue on top of traditional sounds and vibrations (via MacRumors).
This functionality builds on Apple’s existing Accessibility notifications, which in previous versions allowed the rear camera’s LED to blink on incoming alerts but did not affect the front screen.
With iOS 26.2, users can now choose to have the screen light up briefly whenever a message, call, or other notification arrives. The new screen flash option can be used alone, paired with the rear LED flash, or turned off entirely according to personal preference.
Visual notification cues are especially valuable in situations where sound alone might fail to grab attention. You might be in a loud environment where ringing tones are drowned out or have your device set to silent mode, leaving you unaware of incoming alerts. Now the display itself acts like a spotlight, momentarily increasing brightness so that alerts are much harder to overlook.
To activate the screen flash feature, here’s what you need to do:
- Open the Settings app, then tap Accessibility.
- Go to “Hearing,” then tap Audio & Visual.
- Now scroll to the bottom and tap Flash for Alerts.
- Toggle on Flash for Alerts, then tap LED Flash, Screen, or Both.
Once enabled, the screen flash will work whenever a notification arrives, regardless of whether your phone is locked or face down.
