Xbox Mobile App and Xbox Wireless Headset Receive Long-Awaited Updates

Microsoft has rolled out significant updates for its Xbox mobile app and the Xbox Wireless Headset. Users can now find a dedicated Store tab within the app, while the first-party headset now supports Bluetooth Low Energy (LE).

Following the major update to the Xbox mobile app earlier this year, which added the ability to purchase games and subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, the app now supports a dedicated Store tab. As part of the update, users can find games more quickly, purchase titles and add-ons, and become an Xbox Game Pass member with greater ease. In addition, users can now add games to their Wishlist.

Microsoft has also provided an update for its Xbox Wireless Controller. As part of the latest firmware update, the headset now adds Bluetooth LE audio support. Built in partnership with Windows proper, the audio update is leveraged to save battery life while in use. With Bluetooth LE audio, users can still enjoy high-fidelity wireless audio with less latency when compared to Bluetooth Classic. The feature also enables super-wideband stereo sound.

Finally, with shared audio in preview for Windows 11, users can share game audio across multiple compatible accessories. Of course, this requires a Windows 11 device that supports this feature. This is available to all Windows Insiders on select Windows 11 PCs at the moment.
