Police Bust $2M Amazon Warehouse Theft, Find Stacks of PS5 Consoles

Durham Regional Police say five people are facing charges after an investigation into the alleged theft of about $2 million worth of merchandise from an Amazon warehouse in Ajax, Ontario.
The investigation began in November 2025 after Amazon’s loss prevention team contacted police about suspicious activity at the company’s fulfillment centre on Salem Road. Police allege two employees were involved in stealing merchandise over a two year period, with a tonne of product being high-end gaming merch.
On December 15, officers arrested two employees and then searched a home in Scarborough, where three more suspects were found and taken into custody. During the search, police say they seized more than $250,000 worth of high-end electronics (including stacks of PlayStation 5 consoles) along with about $50,000 in cash.

Below are the five alleged of theft over this incident:
- Mehul Baldevbhai Patem, 36, of Newmarket, charged with fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000
- Ashishkumar Savani, 31, of Scarborough, charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000, trafficking in property obtained by crime under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking over $5,000
- Bansari Savani, 28, of Scarborough, charged with possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking over $5,000 and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000
- Yash Dhameliya, 29, of Scarborough, charged with possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking over $5,000
- Janviben Dhameliya, 28, of Scarborough, charged with possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking over $5,000
According to police, the accused include three men and two women from Newmarket and Scarborough. Charges range from fraud and theft over $5,000 to possession and trafficking of property obtained by crime.
All five were released on undertakings and are expected to appear in court at a later date.
