Ring Unloads a Flood of New Security Tech at CES: What’s Coming to Canada

Ring fire watch.

Amazon’s Ring used CES 2026 to show off a wide range of new security features and hardware, with a heavy focus on AI alerts, always-connected sensors, and mobile security for cars and job sites. Some of the announcements apply to the U.S. only for now, while others are confirmed to be coming to Canada.

New AI alerts (mostly U.S.-only)

Ring is rolling out two new AI-powered features designed to cut down on useless notifications and flag things that actually matter.

AI Unusual Event Alert

This feature looks for activity that is out of the ordinary around your home based on your normal routines. If something unusual happens, you get an alert. What counts as “unusual” depends on each camera and location. For example, animals showing up where they normally do not could trigger a notification.

Active Warnings

This feature automatically plays warning messages through Ring cameras when a person is detected. The warning changes based on what the camera sees and where it is. For customers using Ring’s Virtual Security Guard service, the warning plays while a human agent reviews the event.

These features require a compatible Ring subscription and Video Descriptions. They are launching later this month, but availability is U.S.-only, with the exception of Illinois, where they are not supported.

New Ring sensors using Amazon Sidewalk

Ring also announced a new lineup of sensors that run on Amazon Sidewalk instead of Wi-Fi. These sensors do not need a hub and are designed to keep working even if your internet goes down.

The security sensors cover basic home protection and include door and window sensors, motion detectors with pet settings, glass break sensors, a panic button, and outdoor door sensors for gates or sheds. Optional professional monitoring is available with a compatible subscription.

As for the safety sensors they focus on early warnings and include a smoke and carbon monoxide listener, flood and freeze sensors, temperature and humidity sensors, an air quality monitor, and a sump pump monitor to alert homeowners to rising water levels.

Control devices are aimed at everyday convenience and include a smart plug, light switch, fan control, and a light remote for basic automation and comfort control.

Ring says these sensors will be available in Canada and Mexico in the coming months, with other regions planned later in 2026. That’s a good sign for Canadians.

Ring Car Alarm

Ring announced a new car alarm system that uses GPS and Amazon Sidewalk (essentially leveraging a neighbourhood wide network) to track vehicle movement and location, even when parked away from home. The system was built in partnership with Cambridge Mobile Telematics. No subscriptions are needed.

Ring Car Alarm is available for pre-order now. Availability outside the U.S. has not been confirmed.

Job site and mobile security

Ring is expanding its lineup for construction sites, parking lots, and temporary locations.

Ring Mobile Security Trailer

This is a portable security trailer with a 360-degree 4K camera, battery backup, solar power support, and LTE connectivity. It can be mounted on a trailer, placed in a truck bed, or used as a standalone unit. This looks to target business parking lots. Hey, Walmart parking lots could become safer than ever before.

Ring Elite cameras

These are higher-end cameras designed for large spaces like campuses and parking facilities, with options ranging from wide-angle coverage to full 360-degree views.

Both the Mobile Security Trailer and Ring Elite cameras are expected to launch this spring. Pricing has not been announced.

Ring Appstore (U.S.-only)

Ring is launching a new Appstore inside the Ring app that lets users connect third-party apps to their cameras and video feeds. These apps are built by outside developers and focus on things like home management and small business use. The Ring Appstore is U.S.-only at launch and requires a compatible Ring subscription.

Fire Watch feature

Ring also announced Fire Watch, a new feature developed with Watch Duty. It lives in the Neighbours section of the Ring app and is designed to share real-time information during fast-moving wildfire events. Availability outside the U.S. has not been confirmed.

New smart smoke and CO alarms

Ring is partnering with Kidde on new battery-powered smart smoke and smoke-plus-CO alarms. A new feature called Remote Silence lets users mute the alarm directly from the Ring app. With a subscription, Ring says professional monitoring agents can contact emergency services and notify emergency contacts when an alarm goes off. These alarms are available for pre-order now. Canadian availability has not yet been announced.

Overall, CES 2026 shows Ring pushing deeper into AI-powered alerts, non-Wi-Fi sensors, and mobile security, but many of the biggest features are either U.S.-only for now or still waiting on Canadian timelines. Typically we’ve seen features that were U.S.-only eventually debut in Canada, so we’ll have to wait and see here.
