The New Asus Zenbook Duo (2026) Has the Potential to be My Favourite Laptop of the Year

At CES 2026, Asus revealed the new version of its Zenbook Duo, a 4-in-1 laptop from the company. This year’s model sports subtle yet meaningful changes that are already shaping the device to be a standout in the 2026 calendar.

I’ve been a fan of the Zenbook Duo going as far back as 2024. At the time, I was astonished that Asus was able to implement two independent 14-inch OLED displays and offer the versatility of a mobile workstation without many concessions in power. Over the past couple of years, Asus has iterated on the design and is keeping up with current CPU and GPU optimizations. Thus, in comes the latest version of the Zenbook Duo for 2026.

On the surface, this year’s model looks very similar to previous editions. However, the bezels around each display as impressively thin. Asus is getting remarkably close to bridging the gap between the two displays. The Zenbook Duo sports a nice ceraluminum design with a black colourway this year. It looks sleek and moody, especially with the colour across the keyboard. Asus has also refreshed the hinge design for better alignment when the device is closed, as well as prioritized longevity (even though the old hinge never proved to be an issue).

It once again houses two touch-supported 14-inch OLED screens with 144Hz refresh rate support and a max brightness of 1,000 nits HDR. It offers four unique layouts, ideal for work mode, including a traditional laptop setup. However, when the Bluetooth-supported keyboard is removed from atop the lower display, the Zenbook Duo offers Dual Screen mode, Desktop mode, and a Sharing mode. All in all, the device is 12.21 x 8.21 x .0.77 inches and weighs only 3.65lbs.

The real change this year is the use of Intel’s brand-new Core Ultra X9 chipset. With this, the Zenbook Duo provides up to 50 TOPS. As Intel announced during CES, the Series 3 provides up to 16 CPU cores, 12 efficiency cores and up to 60 percent better multithread performance. While it remains to be seen what the performance difference is, on paper, the Series 3 chip should provide a boost from the use of the Intel Core Ultra 9 series in last year’s model. This is all coupled with the Intel Arc GPU. This year’s Zenbook Duo also offers up to 32GB of memory and up to a nice 2TB of SSD storage.

The latest Zenbook Duo also upgrades the battery to a larger 99Wh cell. This is up from the 75Wh battery in last year’s model, which provided around 9 to 12 hours of runtime on a charge, depending on the use of a single display. If both OLEDs were being utilized, the 2025 model could offer around 5 or 6 hours, in my experience. So, with a 99Wh battery under its hood, the latest model should provide a nominal boost for your workflow.

Some other high-level features include the Zenbook Duo sporting two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.1, USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 and a 3.5mm audio jack. The device also provides Dolby Vision-Atmos support with a six-speaker array. The speakers feature two front-firing tweeters and four woofers.

There’s currently no word on Canadian availability or pricing as of yet. However, after a short time seeing the Zenbook Duo in person, this is a laptop worth keeping your eye on this year.
