Telus Starts 2026 With Price Increases Slipped Into Customer Bills
Some Telus customers are seeing a surprise price increase as the carrier heads into 2026.
An iPhone in Canada reader says Telus is raising the monthly price of his plan by $7 starting in February. This reader says he and his wife signed up for a Black Friday 2024 deal that offered 200GB of 5G+ data for $45 per month, with an additional $5 autopay discount.
After receiving his latest bill, he noticed an update buried near the end of the statement warning of the change. “I just received my bill and I noticed Telus jacking up the cost of plans by $7 per month starting February,” he wrote. “Having a contract with any of the carriers doesn’t seem to mean anything if they can just break it and raise your monthly bill whenever they choose.”
According to the notice printed on the second to last page his 14-page billing statement, seen by iPhone in Canada, Telus says the increase will take effect next month.
Telus says the price of the plan will go up in February 2026, increasing from $45 to $52 per month. Customers who don’t accept the new rate can cancel their service within 30 days of the change taking effect without paying a cancellation fee. The notice also says customers should ignore the message if they’ve recently switched or upgraded their plan.
Telus allows customers to cancel without penalty if they do not accept the new pricing, which is permitted under Canada’s wireless rules as long as customers are given advance notice and an option to leave. Still, the move is likely to frustrate customers who believed they were locked into a promotional rate.
It’s not yet clear how many Telus customers will be affected, but this customer believes others on similar promotional plans could see the same increase in the coming weeks. Telus does offer a price freeze guarantee but it’s only on select plans when you commit for five years, which is a very long time.
Have you received a billing increase from either Telus, Rogers or Bell to start off 2026? It’s time to check your bills and let us know: ti**@************da.ca.

I also got a price increase notice of $7 on the latest Koodo bill starting next month.
This should be illegal.
This is why the CRTC exist but their for big corpa rather then fight it, I say make them pay if you have to contact them about a problem submit a CCTS complaint as each complaint makes Telus and Bell pay $400 per complaint
Telus and bell are the worst service providers in Canada. Anybody that uses them that doesn't have to deserves their bill to be increased.
So say you.
Reality sees things differently.
Rogers has far and away the highest levels of customer complaints of any Canadian provider. The most outages and smallest service area too.
Rogers has more customers… More customers more complaints.. Bell/telus sends people door to door lying about Internet speeds. Bell media constantly posting false new on cp24, ctv, and they only hire tfw's.. I'm with Cogeco, because bell home hub is garbage, and so is their subpar service…
Rogers has more unresolved complaints too.
FYI the differences in subscriber levels is a near rounding error. Fact is month to month the top vendor by subs varies.
Ok Bell employee… I’ve used both, have you?
Never worked Bell.
Over 40 years in the telecom industry does provide a modicum of insight beyond that of a complaining customer.

It's time the CRTC starts acting for customers rather then big corpa
Interesting if they will they also make exception on porting out if not in agreement or basically you need to cancel account outright hence lose your number?
