Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ 3.0 Update Drops a Day Early

The 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has dropped a day earlier than expected. The software update is now available to install ahead of its original January 15th launch.
Last year, Nintendo revealed the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update as well as the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game. The major update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons includes brand new features, such as a hotel on the pier in which players can decorate, as well as new items to purchase and collect for their island.
As part of the 3.0 update, Animal Crossing: New Horizons now features the Resort Hotel. This area of the island allows players to decorate hotel rooms for visitors. You’ll be rewarded with Hotel Tickets to spend on exclusive items and decorations at the hotel’s souvenir ship. Additionally, the 3.0 update adds Ressetti’s Reset Service, which helps tidy up your island.
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update also features expanded home storage. After installing the update, you’ll have two additional upgrade opportunities for storage expansion, with a maximum of 9,000 items. You’ll also be able to store trees, flowers, and shrubs. Nintendo items, such as many inspired by The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon and LEGO, are also now available.
It’s worth noting that the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade has not been made available yet. It appears as though this will retain its original January 15th release. This update prioritizes quality-of-life improvements, such as 4K resolution when playing on TV. The upgrade also adds in mouse controls when using the Joy-Con 2’s mouse mode for improved accuracy when playing with furniture. There’s also a new Megaphone tool being added that’ll allow you to locate and call all villagers. 12-player multiplayer is also being added for those subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online.
