Apple Arcade Just Landed Its Biggest Game Ever: What’s New in February

Apple Arcade is finally moving past “mobile-first” games and aiming straight for the PC crowd. On February 5, the service is adding Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Arcade Edition, bringing one of the deepest strategy franchises in history to Apple devices. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to use your free trial, this is likely it.

The strategy game allows players to guide an empire through different historical ages, making choices that change how their civilization evolves over time. While the series is traditionally a PC staple, this version is built to run on iPhone, iPad, and Mac (no Apple TV unfortunately).

Civilization isn’t the only addition. Three other titles are joining the catalog on the same day: Retrocade, which features 80s classics like Asteroids and Galaga (optimized for Apple Vision Pro but playable on iPhone/iPad); Felicity’s Door, a new rhythm-based game; and the colour-puzzle game I Love Hue Too+.

Existing subscribers can also look for a winter-themed update in Crayola Create and Play+ on January 22, featuring a crossover with Paddington Bear.

The service remains $8.99 a month, giving subscribers access to these games without any ads or extra in-game purchases. Apple Arcade is also included in Apple One bundles.

New Games Arriving February 5 on Apple Arcade:

  • Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Arcade Edition: The latest entry in the classic empire-building strategy series.
  • Retrocade: A collection of 80s arcade hits including Asteroids, Bubble Bobble, Centipede, and Galaga.
  • Felicity’s Door: A magical rhythm game following twins traveling through dream worlds and cyberpunk cities.
  • I Love Hue Too+: A psychedelic puzzle game focused on organizing colors and shapes.

Wish it was Civ 6. Civ 7 has been an absolute disaster and embarrassment.
