Public Mobile Hit by Delays as 50% Flash Sale Ends Tonight: How to Fix
Telus-owned Public Mobile is asking for patience as it deals with a surge of traffic following its recent 50% flash sale, which ends today.
The carrier said on Monday the promotion has been an “outstanding” success, but the high volume has led to activation errors and missing discount labels for many new customers.
Shoppers who signed up for the heavily discounted plans (which include 60GB of data for just $20 per month) have reported technical difficulties completing their activations on the web. Public Mobile confirmed that while some may not see the promotional discount on their accounts immediately, it will be applied as promised.
“We acknowledge that some of you may have experienced activation issues and we are working hard to resolve them,” the Public Mobile Team stated in a community update. “There may be a delay before [the discount] is displayed, but please know that it will be applied as promised.”
The carrier is advising anyone facing activation errors to download the Public Mobile app to complete the process, as the web portal is currently under heavy load. For those who have already submitted support tickets regarding missing credits or stalled port-ins, the company says teams are working quickly to assist.
The sale, which offers 50% off 5G Canada-US-Mexico plans for the first 24 months, is scheduled to end on January 26. The plans are below–these are some of the cheapest Canada-US-Mexico plans we’ve seen to date:
Did you make the switch to Public Mobile? Caveats include no Wi-Fi Calling and lack of international roaming. But if you need a cellphone plan for your kids, this is the way to go.

Signs of success? Best way to overwhelm a system? Create such high demand that it brings one's ability to handle the volumes?
I missed it, the system was showing me the plan I tried to subscribe 2 years ago when I logged in with my email.
