Sonos Breaks Silence After Skipping CES With Its First Major Launch of 2026

Sonos is officially kicking off its 2026 product lineup with the launch of the Sonos Amp Multi. This marks the company’s first major hardware announcement of the year.

The new Amp Multi is a beefed-up version of the brand’s popular streaming amplifier, but it is built specifically for large-scale home audio setups. Instead of powering just one area, this single unit features eight amplified outputs. This allows professional installers to drive up to 24 speakers across four different zones in a house from one piece of hardware.

While most high-power amplifiers rely on noisy cooling fans, Sonos is using Gallium Nitride (GaN). It is the same efficient tech found in those ultra-compact fast chargers used for the latest smartphones and laptops, allowing the Amp Multi to stay cool and silent.

This makes the unit efficient enough to stay cool and silent without fans, even when tucked away in a cramped equipment closet. Each of the eight channels pushes 125 watts, providing enough power for large open-concept rooms or outdoor spaces.

“Amp Multi takes that same philosophy and applies it to larger systems,” said Sonos CEO Tom Conrad in a statement on Tuesday. “It makes ambitious designs more efficient to build and install, and easier to live with.”

For homeowners, the main benefit is a cleaner setup. Rather than having a stack of several individual amplifiers, one Amp Multi handles the work of four traditional units. It still works with the standard Sonos app that users already know, making it easy to group rooms or change the volume in the kitchen and the patio separately.

Installers also get new software tools called ProTune. This allows them to manually fine-tune the sound for tricky rooms using a professional-grade equalizer and delay settings.

Sonos says it will be at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) event in Barcelona, Spain, which takes place from February 3–6. This is where the Amp Multi will make its first public appearance, as it is a product designed for professional installers rather than consumers.

At $1,049 CAD, the original Sonos Amp is a staple for single-room setups. This new multi-channel version does the work of four individual units at once. Homeowners should expect to pay a higher price for this all-in-one solution, which trades multiple power cables for a single, streamlined rack design. So get ready to open your wallets.

Sonos confirmed the Amp Multi will be sold through professional installation partners rather than standard retail stores. Pricing and specific shipping dates for Canada will be shared in the coming months as the product rolls out globally.
