Telus CEO Darren Entwistle Named 2026 ‘Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year’

Telus CEO Darren Entwistle has been named the 2026 Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year by the University of Victoria’s Peter B. Gustavson School of Business. Entwistle has led Telus since 2000, making him one of the longest-serving CEOs in the global telecom industry, said the company.
The award is presented annually by UVic’s Gustavson School of Business to recognize business leaders for long-term entrepreneurial impact.
“We are thrilled to announce Darren Entwistle as our 2026 DEYA honouree,” said Peter Gustavson, chair of the DEYA nominations committee, in a statement on Thursday.
Entwistle accepted the recognition on behalf of Telus employees and retirees, saying the award reflects the company’s broader approach to combining financial performance with social programs.
Now, there’s been deep ties between Telus and UVic. Telus has maintained a long-standing relationship with the university in B.C.’s capital city, supporting the school through partnerships, executive education programs, and student funding. Telus has worked closely with the Gustavson School of Business on leadership training initiatives and has contributed to student awards, bursaries, and campus events over the years.
Entwistle is scheduled to receive the award at the Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year gala on June 15 at the Victoria Conference Centre.
