Google Debuts Gemini 3.1 Pro for iPhone, Web

Google has officially released its latest AI model, Gemini 3.1 Pro, aiming to help users handle much more difficult tasks. This update comes just one week after the company introduced its Gemini 3 Deep Think model.

While that previous release focused on science and engineering, the new 3.1 Pro model is designed to be a smarter baseline for everyday use across apps and developer tools. The big story here is the jump in logic and reasoning.

In technical tests, the new model performed significantly better than its predecessors. Specifically, on a test called ARC-AGI-2, which looks at how well an AI can solve brand new logic puzzles, Gemini 3.1 Pro scored 77.1 percent. Google says this is more than double the reasoning performance of the older 3 Pro model.

“Building on the Gemini 3 series, 3.1 Pro represents a step forward in core reasoning,” the company stated in its announcement. They also mentioned that “3.1 Pro is a smarter, more capable baseline for complex problem-solving.”

For people who use the Gemini app on their iPhones or through a web browser, this means the AI should be much better at giving useful answers when a simple one-sentence response is not enough. Google showed off a few examples of what this looks like in practice. In one case, the model was able to create an animated graphic directly from a text prompt.

Another impressive example involved a live aerospace dashboard. The AI was able to take a public data stream and build a visual map that shows exactly where the International Space Station is in its orbit. It even handled the complex task of bridging different technical tools to make a user-friendly design.

If you are a subscriber to the Google AI Pro or Ultra plans, you will start seeing higher limits for using Gemini 3.1 Pro in the app today. It is also being added to NotebookLM for those same paid users.
