Xbox CEO Teases ‘Project Helix’ Next-Gen Console

Microsoft is officially returning its focus to high-performance hardware, with newly appointed Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announcing the company’s next-generation console, code-named Project Helix.

The news was first shared during an internal Team Xbox meeting and later teased to the public via a short video featuring a glowing neon infinity-loop logo. The move marks a strategic shift back toward dedicated consoles after several years where the company prioritized its Game Pass subscription service and multi-platform availability.

While technical details remain under wraps, Sharma confirmed that Project Helix is being designed as a performance leader capable of playing both Xbox and PC titles. This cross-platform compatibility aims to bridge the gap between console and desktop gaming more seamlessly than previous generations.

Sharma, who took the helm following Phil Spencer’s retirement, is wasting no time. She plans to hold more in-depth discussions with developers and studios at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) next week.

The announcement comes at a critical time for the gaming industry, as the next-gen landscape becomes increasingly competitive. Microsoft appears to be positioning Project Helix as a “return to form” for the Xbox brand, doubling down on raw power to attract hardcore gamers. Who’s excited for this?
