Nex, the company behind the motion-controlled Nex Playground, announced today that it is on track to sell its one-millionth unit this month. The milestone comes as the startup prepares to showcase its 2026 software lineup at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) this week.

The system originally launched in the United States and Canada in December 2023. After selling just 5,000 units in its first month and 150,000 in 2024, the console saw a massive surge in 2025, moving over 650,000 units and briefly outselling the Xbox at major retailers during the holiday season. Following its North American success, Nex plans to expand into the United Kingdom and Europe later this year.

“The consumer demand we’ve seen over the past year validates what we set out to build,” said Tom Kang, President of Nex, in a statement on Monday to iPhone in Canada.

The company is now pivoting toward major entertainment franchises to sustain its growth. Starting April 15, Nex will begin rolling out its Spring 2026 lineup on Play Pass, its paid subscription service. The new titles include:

  • Avatar: The Last Airbender
  • Dora
  • Dude Perfect
  • Rubik’s Cube
  • What on Earth? (Working Title)

The Nex Playground retails for $329 CAD MSRP in Canada, though it frequently sees seasonal promo pricing. Every system comes with a starter pack of 5 free games, but you will need a Play Plass subscription to access the full library with over 55 game. Prices are $69 CAD for 3 months and $119 CAD for 12 months. It’s geared for younger players that don’t need to learn how to use a controller as they can just jump or wave to play a game, but other titles are available for older kids (and adults) too.
