Facebook, Instagram Get Faster AI Support
Meta has today announced the rollout out of a global AI support assistant for Facebook and Instagram, providing 24/7 help for account issues and advanced protection against scams and fraud.
The centerpiece of this update is the global rollout of the Meta AI support assistant. Previously available in a limited preview, the tool is now accessible on Facebook and Instagram apps for iOS and Android, as well as via desktop Help Centers.
The assistant is designed to handle common account problems from start to finish, typically responding in under five seconds. This provides a much faster alternative to traditional help center searches or waiting for a human representative. Key capabilities include:
- Taking Direct Action: The assistant can now help users report scams, impersonation accounts, or problematic content directly.
- Account Management: Users can use the assistant to reset passwords, update profile settings, and manage privacy options.
- Content Transparency: It offers clarity on why content was removed and helps users track the progress of their appeals.
- Login Assistance: Meta has also started deploying the assistant to help users in the U.S. and Canada who are locked out of their accounts, with plans to expand this feature soon.
In addition to user support, Meta is deploying more advanced AI systems to proactively police its platforms for severe violations, such as fraud, illegal drug sales, and child exploitation. These systems are designed to be more accurate than previous methods.
Meta emphasized that while it is reducing its reliance on third-party vendors for content enforcement, human judgment remains central to its strategy. AI is intended to handle repetitive, high-volume tasks, like reviewing graphic content, while human experts focus on complex, high-risk decisions. These include critical appeals for disabled accounts and reports that must be escalated to law enforcement.
