Microsoft has announced that this year’s Xbox Games Showcase is taking place on Sunday, June 7th with a special Gears of War: E-Day Direct following afterwards.
In an Xbox Wire post, it’s confirmed that the Xbox Games Showcase will once again focus on “first gameplay looks and huge news on upcoming titles from our first-party studios across the Xbox family.” Additionally, those tuning in can expect announcements and reveals from third-party partners and indie games.
As the Xbox Games Showcase concludes, the Gears of War: E-Day Direct then begins with “details, gameplay and insights” on the game. The Direct will include reflections on the game from Vancouver-based developer, The Coalition. The prequel to the fan-beloved Gears of War franchise is slated to release “later this year.”
This year marks the exciting 25th anniversary of the Xbox brand. As such, the company has announced that Xbox FanFest returns at Showcase. This year’s FanFest is said to include “a look back at the last 25 years” of the brand as well as a view at what’s to come for Xbox.
New Microsoft Game CEO Asha Sharma also posted about the return of the Xbox Games Showcase. “In my first month, I heard clearly that our community values Xbox FanFest,” she says. “As part of the return of Xbox, we made the decision to bring it back to LA to recognize the players who’ve been with us over the years.”
The Xbox Games Showcase is being held on Sunday, June 7th at 1 PM ET/10 AM PT. The live-streamed event will be available to watch on YouTube, the official Xbox Twitch channel, and Facebook.
