Xbox Reveals New Achievement System Refesh With 100% Highlight to Games

Xbox has announced that a full Achievement system refresh is now available to Xbox Insiders. After a long stint in which Achievements were left dormant, the company is making some long-awaited changes.

Announced via an Xbox Wire post, Achievements are now given a new look and feel with updated icons and animations. All changes are available to Xbox Insiders first, before a wider rollout is made to all Xbox players.

When unlocking a Rare Achievement, the banner that pops on-screen has a little flourish to it, making it feel a bit more special. Additionally, Achievement notifications now match the custom colour of your profile, adding some personalization to the experience. The changes are also applied to classic Achievement unlocks as well

One of the most requested features from the Achievement community has been any sort of way to highlight games you have unlocked all 1,000 Gamerscore in. Now, when looking at your Achievement list, completed games are highlighted, making it easier to see while glancing. You can also filter your list to make it easier to find those completed games.

Arriving later this month, players will be able to hide any game from their Achievement history list. This gives more control to those who want to clean up their list. This is a great benefit to those who want to remove games they tried for an hour or two before dropping. It’s worth noting that hidden games with unlocked Achievements will still count towards your overall Gamerscore.

“This is a small but meaningful step in a broader set of improvements we’re making to Achievements,” the company writes. Xbox states that it is looking into new ways to “recognize completion and milestone moments over time.” So, this could be the first step towards making significant changes to Xbox’s Achievement system, which still relies on a dedicated community.
