BLUETTI Launches FridgePower Backup on Kickstarter to Fight Food Spoilage

BLUETTI FridgePower Home Battery Backup

Power outages are becoming a regular headache for Canadians. Whether it is a winter blizzard on the East Coast, spring flooding in the Prairies, or summer wildfire season in B.C., a dead fridge is usually the first major casualty of a storm. BLUETTI is looking to fix that with the launch of its new FridgePower backup system, hitting Kickstarter today.

FridgePower is an ultra-slim battery designed specifically to live behind your refrigerator. At just 2.95 inches thick, it is thin enough to slide into that awkward gap between the fridge and the wall, providing a dedicated power source that keeps your food cold when the grid goes down.

Because it is a plug-and-play unit, there is no need to hire an electrician or mess with your home’s wiring. This makes it a practical option not just for homeowners, but for renters and condo dwellers who cannot make permanent modifications to their space.

The system is engineered for high efficiency, featuring a low 4W self-consumption rate that makes it up to 70% more efficient than standard power stations. This focus on efficiency ensures that every bit of stored energy goes toward keeping your compressor running. The compact footprint doesn’t sacrifice performance, offering a reliable, dedicated energy reservoir that stays tucked out of sight until the moment the grid fails.

More Than Just a Fridge Backup

While it is built with your kitchen in mind, the unit is versatile enough to keep other essentials running. During a prolonged outage, it can power Wi-Fi routers, CPAP machines, or even aquariums.

The tech inside is built for longevity. It uses automotive-grade LiFePO4 cells, which BLUETTI says will provide over 10 years of service. It also features a built-in UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) with a sub-10ms switchover time, meaning your appliances won’t even flicker when the power cuts out.

Safety is also a priority here, which is important for anything plugged into a 120V outlet 24/7. The unit meets UL 1778 and UL 1741 standards, ensuring it complies with Canadian safety regulations.
