Roku Surpasses 100 Million Global Users
Roku has today announced it has surpassed 100 million streaming households worldwide, a massive achievement that underscores the ongoing shift from traditional cable to internet-based television.
This milestone, reached in April 2026, reflects the number of distinct user accounts that have streamed on the platform within a 30-day period.
For Roku, this is not just a round number, but israther a validation of its strategy to build a unified operating system that powers everything from budget-friendly streaming sticks to high-end smart TVs. Anthony Wood, founder and CEO of Roku, described the achievement as a “defining moment” for both the company and the broader television market.
The platform is now used by more than half of all broadband households in the United States. According to Comscore, Roku drives more than three times the engagement of the next leading TV operating system in the U.S., proving that once users choose Roku, they tend to stay there.
While its roots are firmly planted in the U.S., Roku’s expansion into international markets is a key driver of this new growth. The company reported continued momentum in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. In fact, Roku has maintained its position as the number one selling TV operating system in Canada and Mexico for several years, using its intuitive interface to win over international audiences.
The company is also diversifying how people watch. The Roku Channel has become a powerhouse in its own right, now ranking as the number two free, ad-supported streaming app on the platform. To keep up with changing consumer habits, Roku recently launched Howdy, a low-cost, ad-free subscription service.
As the company looks ahead to its Q1 2026 financial results later this month, this milestone serves as a strong signal of stability.
