Anthropic Debuts ‘Claude Design’ AI Tool

Anthropic has officially launched Claude Design, a new research preview from its Anthropic Labs division that marks the company’s first major move into the visual and creative software market.

This latest tool allows users to collaborate directly with the AI to generate polished designs, website prototypes, interactive mock-ups, and professional slide decks.

Powered by the newly released Claude Opus 4.7, the tool is built to handle complex, multi-step creative tasks. Rather than just generating static images, Claude Design acts as a collaborative partner. Users can start with a simple text description or upload a codebase and existing design files to ensure the AI remains consistent with their established brand identity.

The core appeal of Claude Design is its ability to bridge the gap between initial concepts and functional prototypes. The system applies structure, layout, and brand elements immediately, allowing non-designers to create high-quality assets without specialized training.

For professional designers, the tool functions as a rapid prototyping engine. Instead of spending hours manually adjusting layouts in traditional software, designers can use Claude Design to explore multiple iterations of a concept quickly.

One of the standout features is the ability for the AI to “read” a company’s existing code. By analyzing CSS patterns or component libraries, Claude can generate new designs that are ready for developer handoff, ensuring that what is designed can actually be built.

The launch is bolstered by a deep integration with Canva. Through this partnership, Claude Design uses Canva’s Design Engine to produce fully editable visuals. Users can export their creations as PDFs or PowerPoints, or send them directly to Canva’s drag-and-drop editor for final touches.

Claude Design is currently available to Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers.
