Amazon, NHLPA Pledge $1 Million CAD for Community Hockey

Amazon and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) are teaming up to pledge over $1 million CAD to support community organisations across North America during the 2026–2027 hockey season.

This collaboration aims to reach 32 different cities where NHL teams play and where Amazon has a significant presence. The expanded partnership officially kicked off in Ottawa, Ontario. To mark the occasion, three local groups received donations of $25,000 CAD each.

The first group, the Ottawa Power Wheelchair Hockey League, provides a competitive environment for athletes who use power wheelchairs. Another recipient, the Canadian Blind Hockey Association, works to create opportunities for players who are blind or partially sighted. Finally, Next Shift Canada received funding to help break down financial barriers that prevent kids from joining local teams

The upcoming 2026–2027 season will feature more than just financial donations. As part of the agreement, NHL players will visit Amazon facilities in all 32 cities. These visits will allow players to connect directly with Amazon employees and participate in the presentation of donations to local charities.

While the $1 million commitment is a significant jump, the partnership has already seen success. Over the previous season, the collaboration delivered tens of thousands of dollars to Canadian charities and even larger sums across the United States.
