Xbox Slashes Game Pass Prices in Canada: Here are the Changes

Xbox Game Pass Canada Price Drop

Microsoft has officially lowered Xbox Game Pass prices in Canada as of April 21, 2026. The move follows internal discussions at the company regarding the service becoming too expensive for many players to maintain.

Just seven months ago, Xbox increased these rates, but the new pricing actually brings costs lower than they were before that hike.

The updated monthly tiers for Canadian subscribers are now structured as follows, according to Xbox Canada in an email to iPhone in Canada’s gaming expert Steve Vegvari:

  • Essential: $13.99 per month. Includes 50+ games and online console multiplayer.
  • Premium: $17.99 per month. Includes 200+ games and access to new Xbox titles within a year of release.
  • Ultimate: $25.99 per month (down from $33.99). Includes 400+ games, day-one releases, Fortnite Crew, EA Play, and Ubisoft+ Classics.
  • PC Only: $16.99 per month (down from $19.99).

While the lower fees are a win for subscribers, the update comes with a major change to how Microsoft handles its biggest franchise. Future Call of Duty titles will no longer be available as day-one releases on Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.

Instead, new entries in the series will be added to the library during the following holiday season, roughly one year after they first launch. Current Call of Duty games already in the library will remain available to subscribers.

Despite the delay for new Activision titles, Game Pass Ultimate still includes other major day-one releases from Xbox studios along with access to partner services like EA Play.

Are these price drops going to make you re-subscribe to Game Pass? They also come ahead of the launch of a next-generation Xbox.
