Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Releases July 9

It has been thirteen years since the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag released, and today, Ubisoft has officially confirmed that a ground-up remake, titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, is set to launch on July 9, 2026 on PS5.

Assassin in a hood duels with a sword in a rain-soaked street at night, sparks flying from clash of blades.

While the original 2013 release is often cited as a fan favourite, this “Resynced” version isn’t just a simple coat of paint. Built on the latest version of the Anvil engine, the same tech powering Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the remake aims to fix long-standing frustrations while adding significant new story content.

The jump in hardware since the PS3/PS4 era is immediately apparent. Ubisoft Singapore, the lead studio on the project, has integrated ray-traced global illumination and a completely revamped water physics system. The Caribbean now features a dynamic weather system where clear blue skies can shift into violent storms, affecting how the Jackdaw handles on the waves.

On the PlayStation 5, players can choose between three distinct graphics modes:

  • Performance Mode: 60 FPS for fluid combat.
  • Fidelity Mode: 30 FPS with maximum visual detail.
  • Balanced Mode: 40 FPS, specifically optimized for 120Hz displays.

Perhaps the most welcome technical change is the removal of loading screens, allowing for seamless travel between the bustling streets of Havana and the open ocean.

One of the most requested features for a Black Flag remake was a modern stealth system. In Resynced, Edward can finally crouch freely, a basic mechanic that was strangely absent from the original. This change, combined with an “Observe Mode” for tagging enemies, makes land-based missions feel much more like modern Assassin’s Creed titles.

It is worth noting that this is a focused single-player experience. Ubisoft has confirmed that the original’s multiplayer mode and the Freedom Cry DLC have been omitted to focus entirely on Edward’s journey.

I am a PS5 gamer, but sometimes I just wonder why these posts are randomly posted in this “iPhone” website. They seem so unrelated.

And there are also so many other games that don’t get any attention. Curious to understand the criteria.

It’s part of gaming coverage and this story was shared from the PS blog, so it’s just official news shared by Sony. We cover a lot more than just iPhone nowadays…
