Amazon Launches First Colour Kindle Scribe in Canada: Pricing and Features

Kindle Scribe 2026

Amazon has unveiled a redesigned Kindle Scribe lineup, including the first-ever colour version of its note-taking e-reader. All three models are available to pre-order in Canada today, with shipping starting June 11. You may recall that Amazon launched this new Scribe lineup first in the U.S. back in December, but now they have expanded to Canada.

Canadian Pricing for Kindle Scribe

A Thinner, Faster Device

The new Scribe is 5.4mm thin, weighs 400g, and runs on a new quad-core chip that Amazon says makes writing and page turns 40% faster. The 11-inch display is designed to mirror the proportions of a standard sheet of paper, and a new texture-molded glass surface is meant to give the pen a more paper-like feel rather than the slippery experience you get writing on a tablet screen. Parallax, the gap between the pen tip and where ink appears on screen, has also been reduced to nearly nothing.

The Colour Model

The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft uses Amazon’s custom Colorsoft display technology with a colour filter and nitride LEDs to render colours without the harshness of an LCD screen. It supports 10 pen colours, five highlighter colours, and a new shading tool for gradients. Battery life is still measured in weeks.

New Software Features

All three models get the same software overhaul. A Quick Notes shortcut on the home screen lets you jot something down without opening a notebook first. Google Drive and OneDrive support makes it easier to import documents and export annotated PDFs.

The most notable addition is AI-powered notebook search, which lets you search across all your notes in plain language and returns summarized results with the option to ask follow-up questions.

For reading, two new AI features are coming to thousands of titles in the US. Story So Far catches you up on a book without spoiling anything beyond where you left off, and Ask This Book lets you highlight a passage and ask questions about characters or plot context.

All three devices come with a redesigned pen that attaches magnetically to the side and never needs charging, along with a three-month Kindle Unlimited subscription.

The first-gen Kindle Scribe first launched back in December 2024 in Canada, starting at $499 CAD. Pricing has since increased across the board (like everything else in this world). For the new Scribe Colorsoft, it will be $929 after GST and PST in B.C., for example, which is nearly $1,000 for a Kindle.
