Spotify Hikes Canadian Premium Prices, Becomes Most Expensive Music Streamer
We’re seeing yet another price increase for streaming, and this time it’s coming from Spotify. The company has tweaked Canadian Premium pricing, and the change comes after a recent price hike in the U.S. back in January.
Spotify Premium pricing in Canada as of May 12, 2026:
- Individual: $13.99 (up $1.30 from $12.69)
- Duo: $19.99 (up $2.10 from $17.89)
- Family: $23.99 (up $3 from $20.99)
- Student: $6.39 (no change)
So pricing has increased 10.2% for the Individual plan, 11.7% for the Duo plan, while the Family plan sees the biggest jump at 14.3%. The last time we saw a Spotify price increase in Canada was back in October 2024.
“Occasional updates to pricing across our markets reflect the value that Spotify delivers, enabling us to continue offering the best possible experience and benefit artists,” said a Spotify spokesperson in a statement to iPhone in Canada on Tuesday. Take that for what it’s worth.
For comparison, Apple Music individual subscriptions cost $10.99 per month in Canada, the same price as Amazon Music and YouTube Music. Spotify Premium is now the outlier with most expensive price.
