Fortnite Returns to App Store Worldwide, Including Canada

Epic Games has officially brought its hit battle royale game, Fortnite, back to the Apple App Store worldwide. The sudden global rollout marks a massive milestone in the long-running feud between the two tech giants.

Mobile players across the globe can now natively download the game on iPhones and iPads for the first time in years, with Epic even introducing a new in-game campaign to reward returning players with a special outfit.

The widespread release follows the game’s initial return to the U.S. App Store in May 2025. That domestic return occurred after a federal judge pressured Apple to resolve ongoing submission hurdles. Now, Epic is expanding that presence to nearly every international market, framing the move as a strategic step to dismantle the so-called “Apple Tax.”

Epic Games openly admitted that this global relaunch is a calculated move ahead of an intense courtroom showdown. The decision was prompted by Apple’s own legal statements to the U.S. Supreme Court, where the iPhone maker noted that regulators worldwide are closely watching the case to evaluate appropriate commission rates for massive international markets.

Epic believes that upcoming court proceedings will force Apple to publicly reveal the actual underlying costs of operating its marketplace. The game developer argues that once these numbers are exposed, governments will no longer tolerate high digital commissions.

While players in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Japan, and other major territories can now access the game, Australia remains the sole major exception. Epic explicitly stated that Fortnite will not return to the Australian App Store for the time being. Yes, you can also download Fortnite in the App Store in Canada–get it here.
