Canada Joins Anthropic’s Project Glasswing for Early Claude Mythos AI Access

Canada has joined Anthropic’s Project Glasswing, giving select Canadian companies early access to the Claude Mythos AI model to test and patch cybersecurity vulnerabilities before it rolls out publicly, the Globe and Mail reports.

AI Minister Evan Solomon confirmed the news to reporters on Tuesday. “I can confirm that the Canadian government is part now of Project Glasswing, which allows companies to have access to Mythos,” Solomon said, adding that it is “a very important step for Canadians and for our government to make sure that we’re having access and we can protect our institutions and our countries.”

Anthropic delayed the wide release of Mythos specifically because of how capable it is at finding and exploiting software vulnerabilities. Through Project Glasswing, banks, utilities, stock exchanges, and other critical infrastructure providers get a head start, using the model to find and fix security gaps before the model lands in the hands of the general public and, potentially, bad actors. Anthropic says early tests showed Mythos uncovered previously unknown flaws in systems that had been running for over a decade.

Solomon didn’t get into specifics on how the preview rollout will expand, but said the project involvement was about testing systems.

First Project Glasswing partners included big tech giants including Apple, Microsoft, and Google, which got access to the tool for defensive purposes. Mythos was able to uncover some big memory security flaws in macOS.
