Apple Details Siri AI Rollout, Beta Access and Regional Restrictions
Apple has announced that developers can begin testing its latest software releases and Apple Intelligence features starting today through the Apple Developer Program.
A public beta will launch next month through the Apple Beta Software Program, while the final versions of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27 and visionOS 27 are scheduled to arrive as free software updates this fall.
Apple Intelligence will become available this fall on supported devices set to a supported language. Supported languages include English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Swedish, Turkish and Vietnamese.
Apple says Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI experience will be supported on:
- iPhone 16 models and newer
- iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPad mini with A17 Pro
- iPad models powered by M1 chips or newer
- Macs powered by M1 chips or newer
- Apple Vision Pro
- Apple Watch Series 10 and newer
- Apple Watch Ultra 2 and newer
- Apple Watch SE 3 when paired with a nearby Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone
Some of the most advanced Apple Intelligence features will require newer hardware. Apple says its most powerful on-device AI model will be available on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro models, iPads with M4 chips or newer and at least 12GB of memory, and Macs with M3 chips or newer and at least 12GB of memory.
Apple also confirmed that some Apple Intelligence features, including AI image generation, will have daily usage limits because they rely on cloud-based AI models. Users can increase those limits through most iCloud+ subscription plans, which also add Apple Intelligence support for compatible home security cameras.
The company says developers can begin testing Siri AI today on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 and visionOS 27. Siri AI will arrive in a future watchOS 27 beta for developers.
For consumers, Siri AI will launch in beta later this year on supported devices set to English, with additional language support planned afterward.
Apple also outlined regional restrictions. Users in the European Union will be able to access Siri AI on Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro devices when using a supported language. However, Siri AI will not initially be available on iPhone and iPad in the EU.
Meanwhile, Apple Intelligence and Siri AI will not be available in China at launch as Apple continues to work through local regulatory requirements.
Apple noted that feature availability may vary by region, language and local regulations, and some announced features could change before their public release.
