Roku Launches Free “Soccer Zone” Across Canada
As Canada prepares to co-host the word’s largest soccer tournament alongside the U.S. and Mexico, Roku launched a dedicated Soccer Zone to centralize live FIFA World Cup 2026 matches from TSN, RDS, and Crave alongside dynamic scoreboards in Canada.
Roku’s centralized hub aims to eliminate the frustration of jumping between different applications by bringing live matches, real-time highlights, and soccer-themed entertainment into a single, streamlined interface.
The launch comes at a perfect cultural moment for the Canadian market, with major matches scheduled to take place on home soil in Toronto and Vancouver. Roku executives emphasized that the update is built to cut through the modern digital clutter, making it clear where and when to tune in.
The new hub provides full, direct integration with major Canadian sports broadcasters and streaming platforms. Soccer Zone users can seamlessly access live tournament broadcasts available through existing subscriptions to TSN, RDS, and Crave. By unifying these separate services under one roof, Roku acts as a neutral aggregator.
This setup allows cord-cutters to launch live matches directly from the main dashboard without having to manually open each individual app to see who is currently broadcasting the game.
Beyond simply linking out to live feeds, the Soccer Zone includes a suite of interactive, data-driven tracking tools built directly into the operating system. The dashboard features a dynamic scoreboard that updates in real time as matches progress across the tournament. Additionally, stats-driven viewers can follow a dedicated tournament leaderboard that tracks the top goal scorers and assist leaders throughout the summer.
For moments when there is no live action on the field, Roku is leaning heavily into on-demand programming. The Soccer Zone curates a deep catalog of soccer-related films, documentary series, and historical sports content. This includes free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels available on The Roku Channel, such as the official FIFA+ network.
The rollout is completely free and is hitting virtually all hardware tiers in the country. The interface update is currently deploying to all existing and newly purchased Roku streaming players, integrated Roku TV models, and Roku Smart Projectors across Canada.
