Eastlink Is Now Offering Internet in These New Brunswick and Newfoundland Cities
Eastlink is expanding its internet services into new markets in New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador, giving residents in those areas a new option for home internet.
The Atlantic-based telecom is now offering service in Moncton, Fredericton, Saint John, Miramichi, Tracadie, and Bathurst in New Brunswick, as well as St. John’s in Newfoundland.
Eastlink CEO Jeff Gillham said the move as part of a broader push to bring more competition to more Canadian communities. “We are pleased to bring more choice and competition to more communities, along with the core advantages that set us apart from our competitors,” Gillham said. “This includes our strong, local retail presence, value-packed internet and mobile bundles, and the exceptional service that our customers have come to expect from us.”
So how is the expansion happening? Eastlink is using Canada’s wholesale regulatory framework to access the networks of major carriers in areas where it hasn’t built its own infrastructure. Gillham was pretty direct about why. “The current wholesale regulatory framework has caused us to consider different ways of expanding our service footprint where investing in building new networks is no longer viable,” he said.
Where Eastlink does have its own mobile network in these new markets, customers will get its eero-powered WiFi with multiple speed tiers, whole home coverage options, and the ability to bundle internet with mobile service.
