Apple Just Raised Prices Across MacBooks, iPads, and More in Canada

Apple devices lineup: Vision Pro headset, MacBook, iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple TV.

Apple quietly hiked prices on a bunch of its hardware overnight, hitting MacBooks, iMacs, iPads, and even some smart home accessories in Canada.

The price changes follow a warning from Apple CEO Tim Cook last week, who flagged serious supply constraints and rising production costs in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

“There’s less supply at a time when consumers want devices, and the memory guys are passing along huge price increases,” Cook told the WSJ.

Apple confirmed the increases are a direct response to those pressures. “We have now reached a point where we need to begin raising prices,” the company said in a statement to the WSJ. “We have never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly.”

An Apple spokesperson said that “the rapid expansion of AI data centers has created an extraordinary surge in demand for memory and storage” and that the company has “never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly.”

Apple told Bloomberg it has “shielded our customers from these increases so far, but we have now reached a point where we need to begin raising prices on a number of products including today’s increases for iPad and Mac.”

“We know this is not welcome news, and we are working tirelessly to find solutions,” Apple said.

Here’s the new Canadian pricing across the board:

Mac and iMac

iPad

Smart Home, Apple TV and Vision Pro

  • Apple TV 4K: $279 (previously $199, +$80); still $199 on Amazon.ca
  • HomePod: $479 (previously $399, +$80)
  • HomePod mini: $179 (previously $129, +$50)
  • Vision Pro: $5,299 (previously $4,999, +$300)

So what can you do right now? Check out Apple’s authorized retailers such as Amazon.ca and more, as some of them have yet to apply the price increases. Refurbished products have also seen a price increase. Either wait out this memory shortage or find deals for your next Apple product. Let’s wait and see what iPhone 18 series price shock will be this fall.
