Costco Quietly Added Real-Time Gas Prices to Its App. Here’s Where to Find Them.

Costco Canada’s app now shows real-time gas prices, so you can check if it’s worth the drive before you leave the house.

Just open the app, head to the warehouse locator tab, and pick your local Costco. You’ll see current regular and premium fuel prices right alongside the usual hours and location info. This means you don’t need to rely on third-party apps and sites like GasBuddy, which rely on crowdsourcing for real-time gas prices.

Costco’s app has been slowly catching up to its in-store experience for years. Digital membership cards landed in 2019, letting members scan their phone instead of carrying a physical card. Renewal features and the co-branded credit card came next.

Then in late 2021, digital receipts showed up, with up to two years of purchase history available right on your phone. That made returns and expense tracking way less of a headache. You can just show up and access your receipts right within the app.

In 2023 and 2024 brought smaller updates, like better prescription refill tracking and clearer order tracking for Costco.ca purchases.

With current gas prices at near highs, checking to see if you’ll save a few cents (while waiting in line for said gas) before dropping $500+ on a cart of groceries (a.k.a. snacks) is always worth it.
