Apple released the fourth betas of iOS 27 and its other platforms to developers yesterday. This round brings a handful of interface tweaks, new Siri voice options and a long list of bug fixes.
Going by zollotech’s walkthrough of the build, most of the changes are small ones you’ll notice day to day. Siri picks up new regional accent choices, and the dark theme now runs deeper across home screen widgets. Apple also cleaned up a bunch of system bugs from earlier betas, so navigation feels smoother than it did in beta 3.
What’s new in iOS 27 Beta 4:
- Expanded Siri Voice Options: Added new accent options including American, Australian, South African, Irish, Indian, and British, along with customization settings for speech pace and expressivity.
- New Siri Onboarding: Introduced an updated splash notification explaining basic Siri AI capabilities upon first launch.
- App Library Visual Refresh: Updated the App Library background with a distinct blurred effect behind the application categories.
- Refined App Icons and Widgets: Updated icon graphics for the App Store and Podcasts, while shifting Calendar and Reminders widgets to a darker black theme instead of dark grey.
- Control Center Improvements: Sliding between transparency and adaptive noise control modes for AirPods now features updated liquid glass visuals and enhanced haptic feedback.
- Safari Notification Customization: Expanded web page change alerts to include an option for hourly update checks.
- Notes Paste Identification: Pasting copied text into the Notes app now clearly indicates the origin source instead of generic placeholder text.
- Modem Firmware Updates: Included updated modem drivers on older device models to help improve overall cellular signal stability.
- Widespread Bug Fixes: Resolved 64 categories of known system issues while reducing overall reported open bugs across the operating system.
Expect equivalent public beta builds to be released today or tomorrow. By the time September rolls around for the wide public release, iOS 27 is going to be pretty smooth.
