Rogers and Prime Video have agreed on a 12-year sub-licensing deal, making Prime Video the exclusive Canadian home for Wednesday night national NHL games starting with the 2026-2027 season.
Under the new agreement, Prime Video will broadcast at least 26 regular-season games every Wednesday night in both English and French, starting on September 30. The streaming service also picked up exclusive rights to select early-round Stanley Cup Playoff series, covering two First Round matchups and one Second Round series each year.
The games will be included for Canadian Amazon Prime members at no extra cost.
“Our partnership with Prime Video builds on the strong foundation we have established together and reinforces NHL hockey as the most valuable sports content in Canada,” said Tony Staffieri, President and CEO of Rogers, in a statement on Tuesday.
Production and broadcast talent details for NHL on Prime will be announced closer to the start of the season.
Meanwhile, Sportsnet will continue to hold exclusive English-language rights to over 500 national NHL games per season, including Monday and Saturday night broadcasts, along with the bulk of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The agreement comes on the heels of Rogers securing a 12-year national media rights package with the NHL running through the 2037-38 season.
This partnership comes amidst Sportsnet ending NHL games on the CBC, while also increasing Sportsnet+ prices ahead of the new NHL season.
