Apple and Major League Baseball (MLB) have just announced the September broadcast schedule for Friday Night Baseball on Apple TV+, with select doubleheaders set to be streamed live in 3D in Apple Immersive Video for the Apple Vision Pro headset.
The immersive streaming feature debuts with a clash between historic rivals, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. The broadcast utilizes camera gear capable of capturing 8K 3D video with a 180-degree field of view.
Instead of watching a flat feed on a screen, headset owners can experience the game from specialized angles right near the action. The feed captures dugout celebrations after home runs, tense moments at the outfield wall, and close-up views of pitch deliveries directly from the batter’s box.
To support the spatial presentation, Apple is adding custom features specifically for Vision Pro users. The broadcast includes floating spatial graphics that display live stats and team lineups around the user’s viewable area. During inning breaks, the live video stream stays active rather than cutting away to commercial breaks, letting viewers soak in stadium ambiance from all angles.
Ambisonic microphones are also being used to capture Spatial Audio, bringing realistic stadium crowds and ball-on-bat sounds directly into the user’s ears. A dedicated commentary team featuring play-by-play announcer Paul Severino, analyst Xavier Scruggs, and sideline reporter Michelle Margaux will call the immersive games.
The immersive experience will be available live to Apple TV subscribers on Vision Pro in nine territories, including Canada, the U.S., the UK, Australia, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Full game replays and key highlight packages will be archived on-demand inside the Apple TV app for headset owners.
The September schedule focuses heavily on division battles and postseason wildcard races. On September 4, the Cleveland Guardians host the Detroit Tigers at Progressive Field. On September 11, the Milwaukee Brewers battle the Cincinnati Reds, followed by a National League matchup between the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.
The slate continues on September 18 as Luis Arráez, Bryce Harper, and the Philadelphia Phillies host the New York Mets. The regular season coverage wraps up with Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers facing off against the Giants as the Dodgers aim to seal another National League West title.
Now in its fifth season, Friday Night Baseball continues to push the boundaries of sports broadcasting. The 2026 season features enhanced production quality, including 8K resolution and 5.1 surround sound. The experience is available to Apple TV+ subscribers in 60 countries and regions.
