Public Mobile has officially expanded its Fast Switch feature to physical SIM customers looking to switch over to a Koodo postpaid plan. This update allows users to complete their entire mobile migration in just a few minutes, removing previous delays.
To take advantage of this faster switching process, customers are required to transition to a Koodo postpaid eSIM. The migration requires users to provide their device’s unique 32-digit EID number during the checkout and activation flow.
For Android users, the EID can be found by dialing *#06# or by searching for EID within the main system settings. iPhone users can locate this number by navigating to the settings menu and selecting the about section. Public Mobile noted that if no EID is displayed, the current device does not support eSIM functionality, meaning an equipment upgrade would be required to use the new system.
The Telus prepaid brand said that the EID must be entered with complete accuracy during the checkout process, as any typos or invalid numbers will completely block the eSIM download. Once the activation details are submitted and verified, the new Koodo postpaid eSIM provisions directly to the device.
If the automated activation notification fails to appear on the screen during setup, customers can connect with Koodo Assist to have a customer service rep manually provision the profile.
Koodo postpaid accounts offer benefits over Public Mobile prepaid, such as international roaming options, call control spam prevention, and monthly device financing, says the company, and recently download speeds up to 1 Gbps.

But why? Public plans are cheaper and better? Who would switch?
Agreed!! The only reason would be for international roaming. Currently only works in the US, Canada and Mexico with PM. I’m sick of the ads to switch over and the constant calls from Telus asking me to switch.
Yeah it makes no sense other than if you need wifi calling or something like that. The whole play with the big companies is that they have the premium brands (Bell, Rogers, Telus), the flanker brands(Virgin, Fido, Koodo) and the no frills flanker brands (Lucky, Chatr, Public Mobile). All except for the premium brands, are intended to onboard you into their brand ecosystem, with the desire to nudge you toward higher revenue options and/or just raise your plan costs, which some of them do.
With Public Mobile I sense that Telus is going after, not only the extremely budget conscious customer, but also the savvy customer who reads websites like this and will port out at the drop of a dime for the best deal if it’s elsewhere. Their mindset is that some revenue is better than no revenue, and again, they hope that they can gradually increase average revenue per customer the longer you remain with them, without pissing you off to the point that you leave. I’m sure they have all kinds of analysis as to where those breaking points lie and what’s most profitable as a strategy for them.
Agreed. I just don’t see the advantage. I’m happy with PM and if wanted broader roaming I would switch to Freedom Mobile. PM should unlock wifi calling but it’s not worth switching over to Koodo to get it.
$35 a month for 100GB, CanAmMex plan. It will be a cold day in hell if I switch from PM to Koodo.
I made the switch in May 2026 and couldn’t be happier — rollover data, WiFi calling from my cellular challenged home, international roaming for Portugal and a reasonble$29 rate plan

Telus is like Bell and Rogers, they only after your money by getting you to switch and then 2-3 months later they thank you by increasing your plan @ $7 a month !!
Ok, the push to get people like me to switch from Public Mobile to Koodo prepaid is becoming a pain in the ass. Stop! I like the Public Mobile plan. It suits my life perfectly, works really well, and hasn’t let me down. Never switching if I don’t have to.
Everytime I get a call from Telus, telling me what a great deal they have for me, I remind them unless they can beat what I am paying PM, dont waste your time. Call ends abruptly.
