Rogers Blasted by Toronto Tempo Star Marina Mabrey Over Broken Wi-Fi

Toronto Tempo guard Marina Mabrey is getting a quick lesson about Canadian telecom as her struggles with home internet left her unable to watch the end of a crucial WNBA matchup.

The basketball star took to social media to vent about her Rogers connection, posting on X: “Someone please help me with Rogers WiFi. It literally doesn’t work 🥲 and they never answer my calls”. As you can guess, hilarity ensued.

More than a day later, RogersHelps finally responded on X: “We’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing WiFi issues. Send us a direct message, and we’ll be happy to work with you to get everything up and running again as quickly as possible.”

Bell found an opportune time and jumped into the chat afterwards, replying: “Hi Marina! We would love to help you! Check your DMs and we can connect you with some winning internet. 🔥💙”

As one would expect, her post on X sparked a tonne of responses from Canadians sharing their own experiences, with many telling her “welcome to Canada” and suggesting other providers like Bell (some also ranted against them too) or satellite internet like Starlink (she’s in a condo so that may not work).

Despite a visit from a Rogers tech following her initial post, the WiFi problem remained. “He came, told me to move all my stuff out of the closet; that was crazy,” Mabrey told reporters after practice on Monday. “I did. He was like, ‘Yeah, it’s fixed … it had to be your apartment number was wrong or something.’ ”

Mabrey thought the issue was fixed, but her connection dropped again just two hours later while she was watching the Indiana Fever take on the Atlanta Dream to study up ahead of Tuesday’s game against Caitlin Clark and the Fever.

The Wi-Fi cut out with just 13.3 seconds remaining in the game, missing the final play as the game headed into overtime. “I have no idea what happened after the game,” Mabrey said, adding that her Wi-Fi remained down, she said to reporters, according to The Star.

“I don’t want to be part of it. I want my Wi-Fi to work. I’m sick to death. I can’t order anything from Skims, Fashion Nova; I can’t order nothing. I can barely FaceTime. I’m pissed,” Mabrey said. “I’m about to tweet back at Rogers again.”

Mabrey joined the Toronto Tempo in April after signing a two-year max contract worth $2.4 million.
