XREAL says its upcoming AURA XR smart glasses have surpassed 10,000 reservations globally as the company nears its official launch.

Announced at Google I/O, XREAL AURA is a pair of optical see-through wired XR glasses designed around the Android XR ecosystem. XREAL first introduced the hardware through its collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, combining its lightweight glasses with Google’s Android XR platform and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite platform.

Unlike a completely self-contained headset, AURA uses a split-compute design consisting of the glasses and a separate compute puck. The approach is intended to keep the glasses relatively lightweight while still providing enough processing power for more demanding spatial computing experiences.

Google Gemini will also play a role in the experience, bringing Google’s AI assistant into the Android XR environment.

XREAL says interest in AURA isn’t limited to consumers. Developers and enterprise customers are among those reserving the hardware, and the company highlights potential applications across healthcare, training, safety, and frontline work.

“Surpassing 10,000 reservations is an exciting signal of demand across consumers, developers, and enterprise partners,” XREAL co-founder and CEO Chi Xu said. “XREAL AURA represents an important step toward making spatial computing more natural, wearable, and useful in everyday life.”

The early demand has already exhausted XREAL’s original reservation promotion. Initially, customers could pay $99 USD (about $137 CAD) to secure a $199 USD (roughly $275 CAD) credit toward AURA when it launches. That offer has now sold out. Those interested in getting in line can still make an early-access reservation, though the deposit has increased to $199 USD (around $275 CAD).

XREAL hasn’t yet announced the final retail price or a firm release date for AURA. The company says it is moving closer to launch and plans to share additional details soon. For XREAL, crossing 10,000 reservations provides an early indication of how much interest there is in that approach, even before prospective buyers know exactly how much AURA will ultimately cost.
