Bell recently started gifting free Crave Premium subscriptions to select satellite TV customers, according to iPhone in Canada readers.
Emails obtained show Bell informing customers that they get Crave Premium for $0/month (normally $22/month), which works out to $264 per year plus taxes in value. A Premium subscription offers up to 4K video quality, streaming on up to 4 devices at the same time and ad-free viewing. Bell says the offer is available as long as you maintain your TV service.
The fine print says the offer is available to “current eligible Satellite TV residential customers” with accounts in good standing and those that received the email. As long as they stay on their current TV plan they will get Crave Premium for free.
Bell Satellite TV plans start from $85 per month for a one-year commitment for the entry ‘Good TV’ package, and all the way up to $158.50/month for an annual commitment on the ‘Best’ plan. The Crave freebie is one way to keep customers from canceling Satellite TV and cutting the cord. You’ll need a Whole Home PVR which is $17/month to rent, or $499 for an outright purchase of a refurbished unit. It’s clear Satellite TV customers are pretty valuable to Bell.
