Apple’s new AirPods 5 start at $179 CAD, keeping the same entry price as AirPods 4, while a version with a Wireless Charging Case will cost $209 CAD.
Both versions are available to pre-order today in Canada, with in-store availability beginning Friday, September 18.
Here’s the Canadian pricing, before taxes:
For comparison, AirPods 4 launched in Canada at $179 (they’re now down to $140 on Amazon.ca), while AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation cost $249 and included a wireless charging case.
That means the starting price stays flat, while AirPods 5 with the Wireless Charging Case are $40 cheaper than the previous AirPods 4 ANC model, a decrease of about 16%.
The gap between the two new versions is also smaller. Buyers now pay an extra $30 for the Wireless Charging Case option, compared with the $70 difference between the two AirPods 4 models, although that upgrade also added noise cancellation. When Apple decides to unveil AirPods Pro updates–these prices may hint at no further hikes, which is a good thing.
