Google has quietly updated its Canadian Googlebook page with a firm pre-order date.
Instead of the previous vague “fall 2026” window, the page now says Googlebook pre-orders will open on September 21.
That gives Canadian shoppers the first real date to work with since Google introduced Googlebook back in May.
Googlebook is not just a new name for Chromebooks. Google pitched it as a new premium laptop category that combines ChromeOS and Android more closely, with Gemini built deeply into the experience.
The first Googlebooks are expected from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo.
Google has also shown off features such as Magic Pointer, which lets users select something on screen and send it to Gemini, along with Create My Widget for building custom widgets using plain-language prompts. Gemini is spreading beyond the laptop too, including a standalone Gemini app for Windows.
Another feature, Cast My Apps, is designed to bring Android phone apps onto the laptop without requiring a separate install. Quick Access also lets users work with files from their Android phone more directly, alongside other Android software-loop tools like securely switching password managers.
Googlebooks are also expected to include a glowbar light strip as a visual hardware feature across the lineup.
For now, there are still some important details missing.
Google’s Canadian page does not yet list Canadian pricing, exact models, financing options or firm shipping dates. The main update is that September 21 is now locked in as the start of pre-orders.
That should mean we hear a lot more about actual Googlebook hardware, pricing and availability very soon.
