Amazon Launches Redesigned Kindle Lineup in Canada From $179.99 CAD

Amazon has redesigned the Kindle lineup with thinner hardware, flush edge-to-edge displays and new colours across the family.
The company says the new Kindles use a reverse-stack display construction, a first for the e-reader category. The raised border around the screen is gone, while the colour finish now wraps from the front of the device to the back. The lineup adds Ube, Alpine Sky, Seaglass Green and Graphite, with Fig coming to Kindle e-readers for the first time.
The standard 6-inch Kindle starts at $179.99 CAD in Ube and Graphite. It includes 16GB of storage, up to 6 weeks of battery life and book opening that Amazon says is 30 percent faster than the previous model. Amazon also says the housing uses recycled materials and a battery made with 100 percent recycled cobalt.
For the first time, the 6-inch Kindle with an aluminium back is also available. That version has 32GB of storage and starts at $259.99 CAD in Alpine Sky Aluminium and Seaglass Green Aluminium. Amazon says the housing uses 80 percent recycled aluminium.

A new Kindle Kids edition starts at $249.99 CAD and includes artist-designed covers plus 12 months of Amazon Kids+.
The new Kindle Paperwhite starts at $299.99 CAD with 16GB of storage in Graphite. It is thinner and lighter than the previous lineup, remains waterproof and keeps the adjustable warm light, with up to 12 weeks of battery life.
Amazon says it also has the largest Paperwhite display yet and the highest contrast ratio, with an oxide thin-film transistor backplane designed to deliver deeper blacks and crisper text.

The Paperwhite Signature Edition starts at $349.99 CAD in Graphite and Seaglass Green. It adds 32GB of storage, an aluminium rear housing, an auto-adjusting front light, pogo pin dock charging and double tap to turn pages.
Kindle Colorsoft starts at $379.99 CAD with 16GB of storage in Graphite. It keeps the paper-like colour display aimed at comics, graphic novels, travel guides and colour covers without the glare of a tablet.
Amazon says the redesigned Colorsoft display uses nitride LEDs, an oxide backplane, custom waveforms and micro-deflectors to improve colour, brightness, contrast and uniformity.

The Colorsoft Signature Edition starts at $429.99 CAD in Graphite and Fig. It adds 32GB of storage, an aluminium housing, an auto-adjusting front light, double tap page turns and pogo pin dock charging.
Colorsoft Kids starts at $399.99 CAD and also includes artist-designed covers and 12 months of Amazon Kids+.
Amazon says children using Kindle read for more than an hour per day on average.
The company also introduced new accessories for the refreshed lineup.
Kindle Click costs $47.99 CAD and is a compact Bluetooth page-turn remote designed for reading under the covers, on a treadmill or on an airplane tray table. It works with all of the new Kindles and models released in 2024 or later.
The Page-Turn Cover costs $109.99 CAD and adds physical page-turn buttons using pogo pin connectivity. It is available for the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition.

Amazon also introduced a Charging Dock for those two Signature Edition models, along with new Kindle Covers in knit fabric, plant-based leather and pebbled premium leather. Canadian pricing for those accessories was not included in the information provided.
In Canada, the new Kindle, Kindle Aluminium and Kindle Kids are available starting today. Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft will become available for preorder on a rolling basis, while Colorsoft Kids is also available for preorder.
Canadian pricing starts at $179.99 CAD for Kindle, $259.99 CAD for Kindle Aluminium, $249.99 CAD for Kindle Kids, $299.99 CAD for Kindle Paperwhite, $349.99 CAD for the Paperwhite Signature Edition, $379.99 CAD for Kindle Colorsoft, $429.99 CAD for the Colorsoft Signature Edition and $399.99 CAD for Colorsoft Kids.
Amazon says Kindle has posted double-digit global growth for three consecutive years, with more than 720 billion pages read in 2025 alone.
If you were eyeing the 11-inch Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, which just dropped by $250 CAD in Canada, note that the Scribe is a separate note-taking line and is not part of this refresh.
This also caps a busy hardware week for Amazon, which brought the previous Colorsoft to Canada and has been discounting devices ahead of its fall Prime Big Deal Days event.
