Gemini 4 Argon Rolls Out in Canada, But You’ll Have to Pay to Use It

Google has launched Gemini 4 Argon in Canada and worldwide, making its latest AI model available to paying subscribers, developers and businesses after a limited rollout to cybersecurity partners last month.
The wider release comes two weeks after Google first introduced Argon. It’s now available through the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, while developers can access it through the Gemini API and AI Studio.
Argon is designed to handle complex tasks involving coding, finance, legal work, cybersecurity and scientific research. Google claims it ranks first on the Vals Index, a benchmark measuring AI performance on professional tasks.
The company also says Argon provides more direct answers, follows writing instructions better and avoids unnecessary repetition compared to previous Gemini models.
Some of the demos shared by Google showing what Argon can do was pretty impressive. Some examples are below:
For everyday users, there’s a catch. Argon requires a paid Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription, with no free access announced.
Developers will initially pay $2 US per million input tokens and $10 US per million output tokens through the Gemini API. Those rates double after November 30, 2026. The model supports a 1-million-token context window.
Google says its Chrome team used Argon to restructure hundreds of code files in weeks rather than months. Cybersecurity firm Wiz also reportedly used it to identify vulnerabilities affecting government and healthcare systems. On safety, Google claims Argon reduced successful prompt injection attacks to 0.7% in testing.
The company is also offering 10,000 scientists free access to its highest Antigravity usage tier for six months, with more Gemini 4 models planned.
