Apple’s Wall-Mounted HomeView Won’t Include a Charger, Cable or Mount

Apple’s new HomeView smart home hub starts at $429 in Canada, but consumers choosing the wall-mounted version will need to pay extra for installation and power.
As MacRumors first reported, a new Apple support document notes that the wall-mounted HomeView ships without a USB-C charging cable, power adapter, or mounting hardware. Instead, the box includes only the device and support documents.
That’s a notable difference from the tabletop model, which includes a 30W USB-C power adapter and a 1.5-metre USB-C cable for the same $429. Apple says the tabletop HomeView requires a USB-C adapter that delivers at least 30W, supporting 15V at 2A or higher. The wall-mounted version requires at least 20W and supports 9V at 2.22A or higher.
Customers purchasing the wall-mounted model will need a compatible third-party mounting solution. Depending on the installation, HomeView can receive power through a USB-C cable and adapter or a hardwired electrical connection.
Apple offers mounting accessories from Schneider Electric in Canada, including a $79.95 USB-C Power Mount and a $109.95 AC Wired Mount. A Power over Ethernet option is expected in early 2027 for $179.95.
If the device doesn’t receive sufficient power, HomeView displays a “Power Adapter Not Supported” warning. Apple recommends testing wall-mounted units with a compatible USB-C cable and adapter before contacting the mount manufacturer or installer.
Apple announced HomeView earlier this week, introducing a 7-inch Liquid Retina display, an A18 chip and AI-powered Siri capabilities. The launch follows previous reports of delays tied to Siri’s AI development. Both HomeView models are available for pre-order in Canada ahead of their November 13 release.
