Back in October, Cineplex for iOS was updated to let moviegoers use their iPhone as their ticket, bypassing ticket stations to print physical tickets.
At the time, many wondered why Apple Wallet support was not included. But fast forward nearly two months later, Cineplex has updated their iPhone app to announce native Apple Wallet support has arrived:
YOUR PHONE IS NOW YOUR TICKET, NOW WITH APPLE WALLET SUPPORT:
Skip the box office line and just scan your movie ticket from the app or from Apple Wallet with the ticket taker. No need to print your ticket.
With Apple Wallet integration, your purchased movie tickets can now be saved as passes, accessible from your iPhone lock screen based on your location, by double-clicking the Home button or with a double tap of the side button on iPhone X or later.
Cineplex Mobile for iPhone at one point had support for Wallet—or Passbook as it was formerly known—way back when iOS 6 launched in 2012. However, Cineplex removed the functionality sometime after 2015, and made users go print tickets at home or from the ticket booth again.
