The Wait’s Over: All-New Yahoo! Mail iPhone App Released

After taking over as Yahoo CEO in September, Marissa Mayer offered employees free smartphones such as the iPhone 5 and more.

Today on the company blog she is further making her mark by personally announcing the release of all-new Yahoo! Mail apps, which includes a version for iPhone users. The new apps are part of Yahoo’s plan to have a streamlined and consistent experience across all platforms:

You’ve told us loud and clear that you want fewer distractions when it comes to email. You want to quickly login, communicate, and get on with your day. And we’ve listened. Starting today, the new Yahoo! Mail is fast, easy and available anywhere you go. These improvements will be available on all major platforms: Web, Windows 8, iPhone/iPod touch and Android.

We’ve redesigned the new version of Yahoo! Mail with speed in mind — getting through your emails is faster than ever before. We’ve also made your inbox more intuitive and easier to navigate, allowing you to focus on what matters most: your messages. And, because mobile is everything these days, Yahoo! Mail now has a consistent look and feel across devices.

The new Yahoo! Mail app is available for the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 running iOS 6. The features are below:

Always stay connected
• Access your inbox in just one tap
• Receive automatic notifications for new messages
• Quickly scan messages in your inbox with continuous scroll

Message with ease
• Auto complete email addresses as you type
• Simply swipe left on any message to delete, flag, move, mark as read and more
• Multi-select messages to organize your inbox faster

Get more done, faster

I haven’t touched my Yahoo account for over a decade; I don’t even know my credentials anymore. If you’re a Yahoo mail user, you’re going to like this app from the sounds of early reviews in iTunes. Let us know what you think of it in the comments.
