Virgin Mobile Canada and Richard Branson have launched a new $10,000 contest called ‘Pitch to Rich’, which will provide entrepreneurs the chance to meet with the business magnate.
Canadians can enter the contest today and submit their ‘elevator pitch’ for their mobile-related idea. Finalists will need to submit a private video and on why they should win and get the chance to meet Richard Branson, who will be part of the review team that hand-picks the grand prize winner.
“Mobile technology is changing the way we look at the world and disrupting industries fast through innovation,” said Virgin Group Founder, Richard Branson, in an issued statement to iPhone in Canada. “Some of the modern world’s greatest ideas came from young entrepreneurs because they look at the world with fresh eyes and a lively determination. I’m excited to hear some brilliant ideas, and look forward to discussing one over a cup of tea.”
Similar ‘Pitch to Rich’ style events have taken place before in the U.S., U.K. and Mexico, but have now reached Canada, seeking to help encourage mobile business ideas.
“The ‘Pitch to Rich’ contest is our way of encouraging Canadian youth to dream big and share their ideas about all-new possibilities for mobile communications,” said Jennifer Posnikoff, Virgin Mobile Canada’s Director of Brand and Communications, in a statement. “Consumers and businesses alike demand mobile innovation, and we can’t wait to hear what Canada’s next generation of entrepreneurs has in store for us.”
Virgin Mobile Canada and Richard Branson will be asking the following questions about potential winners:
Is it an original mobile-related business idea that’s easy to understand?
Is there a consumer need for the idea?
Is it a viable idea that can easily be brought to market?
Does it make people’s lives better?
The grand prize will see a chance to meet with Branson, plus $10,000 towards your mobile-related business idea, flights, 2 nights’ hotel stay and a $500 Visa Gift Card.
Entries for the ‘Pitch to Rich’ contest starts today and goes until April 24, 2018. The grand prize winner will be chosen on May 1, 2018.
