Koodo: $45 Unlimited Canada-Wide Plan with 1GB Data, [Quebec Only]

Looks like Koodo has upped the ante with its latest promo plan for residents in Quebec, besting Fido and Virgin Mobile.

A new $45 per month plan offers the following:

  • Unlimited Canada-wide calling
  • 1GB data ($10/GB overages)
  • Unlimited SMS/MMS
  • Call display, voicemail, call waiting, conference call

The same plan from Fido and Virgin Mobile is $50. These plans were introduced to compete against offers from Videotron. Do note Koodo introduced their $50 plan a while back at the same time as Fido, but this latest change brings it down by another $5.

Also, if you bring your own device, you get 10% off per month on this plan, making it $40.50 per month. Not a bad deal at all.

Let us know if you’re going to jump on this. If you’re currently a Koodo customer, all you need to do is call in and make the change. Now excuse me, while I go tell the wife we’re moving to Quebec.

I- ugh. I hate these so much. $45/month for unlimited long distance, 1GB and Call features with $10 for each gig extra sounds reasonable to me. I could keep my data fees low certain months and not be hit with ridiculous overages during other months. I might actually think of switching.

But no, I live in ****ing Ontario and so I deserve to get shafted. Because Robelus isn’t afraid of Wind *quite* as much as they are of Videotron. For f*** sakes.

On a side note, do they require a physical address in said province? Because I’ve got family to go visit in Ottawa and Gatineau is not too far.

This is a pretty good deal, and yes…a good example of how another carrier in a geographic area CAN shake up the big 3.

As for getting a phone there and then using it here, Typically the carriers pay attention to that and will cut off the service when they notice it.

Goes to show that the telecoms need more competition because us Canadians do indeed need choice. In SK and QB where there is more choice of carriers the prices are competitive, whereas the rest of Canada has to suffer from grossly over priced packages.

I am so fed up with this. We need reasonable plans here in Ontario.

I know Ontario (particularly Toronto) tends to think of themselves as the centre of the universe but ALL of Canada could use reasonable plans. But yeah, fed up pretty much sums it up.

I meant don’t forget BC as another CDN province that gets the royal crapper when it comes to not getting good cell plans like T-bay, MB, SK, and Quebec. 🙂

No I think you mean Ontario particulary Toronto thinks they are the center of the HOCKEY Universe, not sure where you got the entire Universe from. At least that’s what everyone else assumes, but the real issue is the rest of you guys are all stuck up and love to hate on Ontario particulary Toronto. I’m sure ALL of Canada could use reasonable plans, but obviously Marye is from Ontario, which is why he wants more reasonable plans where he lives. But of course you had to take it to where you took it. Stuck up much?

I dont understand the $75 plan. Features are same as $45 plan so why not take the $45 plan with 1 GB data and incur overages of 2GB which would cost $20 – brings total to $65.

I used to be paying easily $150 a month with rogers until I decided to cancel my contract with them; bought the iphone 5 outright and jumped to fido. Now I am paying $56 for their smart plan ($60 plus tax) for unlimited talk and text, Canada wide + 2GB. I’m happy with this considering how much I was getting raped before for less.

I think the key is not to be on a contract so they know you could always leave them if you are not happy.

They lowered the plan by 5$ because with Virgin you can have a 300$ reduction on a 24 months contract while with Koodo it was 55$. Now it would be the same price for a 300$ reduction, but with a no term contract, it would be 5$ less every month which is better.

I’ll get the plan Tuesday hopping it will still be available.

This sounded to good so I inquired with Koodo and yup it is as you say so I make the switch.
The koodo rep said this deal ends on Sept 12th so if your thinking about it you should hurry.
Thanks for the tip.
