TELUS announced yesterday and today it will be investing $4.5 billion each in B.C. and Alberta through 2019, to expand their Fibre network, healthcare solutions and LTE network.
The company says by the end of 2019, it will have invested over $51 billion in B.C., since 2000, according to Darren Entwistle, TELUS President and CEO.
Expanded wireless service will be coming to over 1,540 kilometres of highways which previously had no service, as part of a provincial agreement signed in 2011. Other wireless expansion will continue to revolve around its LTE network, set to reach over 98 percent of residents in the province.
Special mention noted a $5 million investment in Tofino and Ucluelet for expanded Fibre, set to reach 90 percent of homes and businesses by year end 2016.
In Alberta, the company says $46 billion will have been invested in the province since 2000. As for their LTE coverage, it will continue to expand, and currently reaches over 99 percent of Albertans. Similar investments like in B.C. will also see Fibre expand, set to reach Edmonton and Westlock.
TELUS will continue to expand its healthcare solutions in both provinces, and noted it now serves electronic records to over 15,000 Canadian doctors, while manages health benefits for over 10,000 pharmacies, 11,000 dental clinics and 33,000 extended health providers nationwide.
Other investments will also revolve around investing in the Internet of Things (IoT) in both provinces.
Yesterday it was revealed TELUS’ CEOs were paid just over $24 million in 2015.
